The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has launched the UAE National Nutrition Strategy 2022-2030, which sets out a comprehensive roadmap for developing a sustainable and healthy food system and incorporates a wide range of strategic partners.
Commenting on the new strategy, His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, UAE Minister of Health, said that MoHAP will implement the strategy in collaboration with other stakeholders, utilizing clear coordination channels and integrating all policies Based on its “One Health” concept, a unified tool for the comprehensive and joint assessment and control of zoonotic diseases.
“We will make every effort to reduce the prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases and improve the results of national health indicators,” said His Excellency Al Owais. “Driven by the National Wellbeing Strategy and Our UAE Strategy 2031, the National Nutrition Strategy 2022-2030 will help improve data based on specific criteria for monitoring progress and evaluating results.”
The strategy was launched in November at an event at the Etihad Museum in Dubai, attended by Salem Al Darmaki, Advisor to the Minister of Health and Prevention, Nouf Khamis Al Ali, Director of Health Promotion Department at MoHAP, and representatives of 22 government and private sector entities.
Al Darmaki stressed that the overall goal of the strategy is to provide universal healthy and sustainable diets and improved nutrition for all age groups, including mothers, infants, children, adolescents, adults and the elderly. “This is to prevent all forms of malnutrition and address diet-related risk factors,” he noted.
