UAE Innovation Month, organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Center for Government Innovation (MBRCGI), aims to promote innovation through more than 1,000 events across the country from February 1 to 28, 2018. From parks showcasing creative inventions in various cities to the launch of the Google Innovation Center, the month-long initiative will host key events and competitions to showcase leading ideas and innovators from across the UAE. As part of the Year of Zayed, the initiative is also inspired by the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founder of the UAE.
Speaking at the launch of the initiative, His Excellency Huda Al Hashimi, Assistant Director-General for Strategy and Innovation at the UAE Prime Minister’s Office, said that due to the momentum of the Innovation Theme Week in previous years, it will be extended to a full month this year, Give people more time to visit and participate in activities. As the event is also held in support of the National Innovation Strategy, His Excellency Al Hashimi commented: “The UAE Innovation Strategy clearly defines seven main areas of innovation: space, transport, water, renewable energy, technology, health and education – so all these main The sector will be a key player in this.” She added that there will be a special focus on artificial intelligence, efforts to engage young people, and how the private sector, multinational companies and small and medium-sized enterprises can have their own platforms.
His Excellency Hashemi noted that each emirate will have its own program and have an innovation truck traveling along the route that will be present at major gatherings in each emirate. “What should travelers be aware of? Students and technology professionals alike can take part in the UAE Hackathon, a national competition organized in partnership with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority to leverage open data to drive economic growth in the UAE.
Abu Dhabi will host the Innovation Lab Competition, announced by His Excellency Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development. In Ras Al Khaimah, a Waterfront Entrepreneurship Summit will be held, welcoming entrepreneurs from around the world as well as the GCC region. Fujairah will host an innovation competition that seeks ideas to improve local government services and is open to residents of the city. The first place winner will receive AED 20,000, the second place will receive AED 15,000, and the third place will receive AED 15,000. Named 10,000 dirham place. Ajman will host a series of workshops on programming and robotics.
While in Dubai, the Aviation Innovation Summit 2018 invites professionals and entrepreneurs to focus on issues, highlight concepts and products in aviation, Finnovate brings together the Middle East’s fintech community to focus on the challenges and opportunities in the sector.
